This little guy is typically only found along the west coast of the United States with a migration line up into Alaska but for some reason, this handsome little male found his way over to southern Minnesota. I was told this is only the 15th recorded finding of a Rufous Hummingbird in Minnesota and only the 4th male of that bunch.
The above photos is him on one of his favorite perches that day where he would stand guard and chase off any of the female Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds that tried to eat from the nearby sugar-water feeder.
Once you've stopped here, it's pretty much impossible to NOT stop every time you drive by. It's got every candy you've ever known plus an amazing amount of fresh apple treats in fall and I think something like 150+ varieties of Root Beer. Mark and I like to pick different ones each time we stop and so far they have all been good. Today we also added a Red Velvet Wicked Whoopie Pie which was super delicious. #sugarcoma Yummy!
Mark was having fun photographing all the beautiful pumpkins. Being as it's early in the season, there was quite a selection of all shapes and sizes. If you are in the market for a pumpkin, they are $3.98 for any pumpkin, any size!
