Let me start by saying that geocache GCD, Washington's oldest active geocache is an OMG WTH?!? kind of amazing, long, beautiful trek into the backwoods of Washington near Snoqualmie Pass (that's oh-my-goodness, what-the-hell?!? for those of you not fluent in texting shorthand. I write what I think and sometimes... it's weird so go with it :) A roughly 2 hour trek, 1600ft up a winding path that left us in awe of the beautiful mountain scenery and at one point, had me tightly clinging to a pine tree.
There's just no going to Seattle without spending a morning walking through Pike Place Market. Food, crafts, amazingly fresh seafood and plenty of elbow bumping. Established in 1907, this beloved 9 acres section of Seattle sees more than 10 million visitors a year and is one of the largest craft markets in the country. 225 small businesses sell their products here with 85 local farmers selling fresh fruit, honey, flowers, vegetables and more. With all sorts of shops and underground alleys, it's a great place to hang out and get lost for a few hours.
If there is one thing we are always on the lookout for while we travel it’s great coffee in a local coffeehouse that has free WiFi. While there were plenty of Starbucks locations to be found in Seattle which would of course give us both coffee and WiFi, it’s way more fun and often relaxing to support the local coffeehouses that offer a bit more in terms of local flair and atmosphere, fun food choices and in my opinion, much better coffee.
There are many, many more small, local coffeehouses all over the city but these were the ones that we spent a few hours at and wanted to highlight for those of you looking for fresh, local coffee with a free, WiFi enabled work-space.
