After leaving Phoenix, we headed north and jumped onto the Historic Route 66 in Flagstaff. While our time was limited since we needed to get back to Minnesota in just 4 days, we planned a few fun stops to pick up caches in some of the most notable locations along the Route.
Below I put a box around the section we were able to explore a bit along Route 66. We had so much fun but definitely did not have enough time to fully explore the fun and odd history of the Historic Route. I also learned typically travelers take this from east the west, not west to east. Below are some of the places we enjoyed along the way.
Talk about cheap breakfast - Denny's
This has nothing to do with the historic route but was worth noting for any of you nomadic travelers. I haven't eaten at a Denny's in a few years but found they have a super cheap "$2 $4 $6 $8 Value Menu®" where I got a biscuit and gravy with hashbrowns for $2! I put the fork on the plate so you can see it's plenty of food.
